Finnish Subtitle Translation Services

Adelphi is a specialist media localization agency and has a full-time translation department sourcing translations in over 120 languages. As well as Subtitling we also produce voice-overs in over 70 languages and typesetting of printed materials in over 120 languages.

Because we control all of the aspects of the subtitle localization from the transcription to translation to the finished subtitled Finnish video, we can offer quality control throughout the process as well as a high degree of confidentiality.

All our Finnish subtitles are produced in-house and never outsource any of the work. Our media department works on a wide range of specifications and can take your original video and produce a working copy with Finnish subtitles ready to publish on the Internet, film, TV, or on DVD.

These subtitles were ‘burnt on’ to the video, which is also called open captions, and because of the nature of the video, in this case, we used a transparent band behind the text for best readability. There are other styles of subtitles we can produce. We can advise you on the best option for your video and even provide samples for you to choose from. We also offer samples of fonts to choose from if required.

Transcription Services

We also offer a transcription service, to provide time-coded scripts for translation. The length of many languages will expand when compared to original English and care must be taken in the translation to keep the true meaning of the English, while staying within the time frame allowed. We sometimes have to edit the English to make a more concise version of the original, this is because the written version of many languages is much longer than the English and would not fit in the allocated time-slot.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, through the United Nations office at Vienna, asked Adelphi to add captions to their public service announcement (PSA) about wildlife crime.

The PSA video called “Serious About Wildlife Crime”, was subtitled by Adelphi in Simplified Chinese, Lao, Arabic, Spanish, French and Russian. We have just subtitled Thai and Vietnamese for them.

The videos were placed online and pitched to broadcasters in order to spread the message about the prevention of wildlife crime and trafficking.

Project Description

Project Description

The Sheffield Hallam University requested us to produce a series of subtitled videos in a number of languages, the sample here is in Welsh. Welsh has 29 letters in its alphabet and has three accents ´ ^ ` which look like this Ŵ Ŷ Ì Á. ´ is found on the letter a, ` is found on i and o, and ^ which is found on any vowel to emphasise its length.

Project Description

This video about gestational diabetes was subtitled into various languages, the sample here is in Urdu. Urdu can be written using two different styles, Naskh and Nastaliq. The simpler Arabic form Naskh is generally used in subtitling.

Arabic Subtitling – MAERSK

Project Description

The University of Derby requested us to produce a series of subtitled videos in a number of languages, the sample here is in Turkish. In the Turkish alphabet some letters were adapted to represent Turkish sounds: Ç, Ğ, I, İ, Ö, Ş, and Ü. While most fonts have these characters the I (an i without the dot and the İ, a capital i with a dot) do not appear in many fonts.

Made for Twinings this video is subtitled in Thai. Thai has very long compound words and can be difficult to break in the right place. Also it is very important that the diacritics are lined up correctly.

Project Description

Refugee Action requested us to produce subtitled videos in a number of languages, the sample here is in Tamil and also has a Standard Level Tamil voice-over. We produced the trasncription, translation and subtitled the video. While being a beautiful looking language Tamil suffers from font issues, swapping fonts can be difficult and some subtitling applications do not render the fonts correctly.
